Employment Services - South Coast BC

A free employment program that equips youth and young adults legally entitled to work in Canada with the skills and training needed to get hired.
BGC offers two government funded hybrid (online/in-person) employment programs that help youth and young adults living in the Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD) enter or re-enter the Canadian workforce. Each program has slightly different criteria, so please make sure to check eligibility before applying.

Employment Now: A free program offering up to 6 weeks of group-based workshops and training, with job opportunities in customer service, retail sales, hospitality, office administration, and clerical work - followed by three months of one-on-one job coaching support. Available for ages 16 to 29.
  • Receive a cash completion bonus of $300 once training is completed, plus additional cash bonuses for getting and keeping a job
  • Design a resume and cover letter that gets noticed by employers
  • Master the secrets of successful job interviews resulting in more and better job offers
  • Continue to meet one-on-one with professionally trained staff to help improve results
  • Get hands-on experience by accessing on-the-job training with employer partners
  • Support to address barriers to employment and connect to services in the community
  • Financial supports for transportation, clothing and footwear
Youth Employability Program: A free 8 week program of 4 weeks of online and in-person group-based workshops and certificate training, followed by up to a 4 week work experience placement with a local employer. Youth are paid an hourly wage while attending the workshops as well as during the placement. Available for ages 15 to 30.
  • Virtual and in-person workshops include interview skills, resume & cover letter preparation and a variety of topics to help find and keep a job
  • Short-term certificate training to get noticed by employers and improve employability
  • Ongoing one-on-one support from the youth employment services team to support individuals in achieving their employment goals
  • Completion bonus available
